It also features the S-Cinetone picture profile, ensuring professional-grade movie imagery with a beautiful representation of human skin tones. To complement the camera, Sony is simultaneously releasing the ECM-M1 shotgun microphone, which provides high-quality sound and comes with eight sound pickup modes, including stereo.
One of the key highlights of the α6700 is its AI-powered subject recognition. Thanks to the AI processing unit inherited from the “α7R V,” the camera now accurately identifies various subjects, from humans and animals to birds, insects, cars, trains, and aeroplanes. This advanced feature opens up new creative possibilities for photographers and videographers alike.
When it comes to video performance, the α6700 excels with its ability to shoot 4K video at 120fps and supports S-Log3 for superior gradation. The AI-driven Auto-Framing feature tracks subjects smoothly, eliminating the need for manual camera movements. Additionally, the camera has a Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe compatible with digital audio interfaces, making it a perfect companion for the new ECM-M1 shotgun microphone, which ensures high-quality, undegraded sound.
Despite its advanced capabilities, the α6700 remains highly portable and user-friendly. With its compact design and touch-operable vari-angle LCD monitor, it’s easy to carry and use on the go. The camera also features customizable front and switching dials for effortless operation, as well as a reliable optical 5-axis in-body image stabilization system.
For seamless connectivity, the camera supports the Creators’ App, allowing easy uploads of videos and images to cloud services. Sony also plans to release an updated “Camera Remote SDK” version for remote operation and settings adjustments.
Sony is also committed to environmental consciousness and accessibility. The camera body incorporates recycled materials, reducing its environmental impact without compromising functionality. Moreover, it comes with a Screen Reader function, assisting users with menus and video playback by reading them aloud, making it more accessible for a diverse range of creators.
As for the ECM-M1 shotgun microphone, it is a world-first with eight dial-selectable audio recording modes, including stereo. It captures targeted sound from the front and suppresses other surrounding sounds effectively, making it ideal for interviews and selfie-oriented scenarios. The microphone’s noise reduction utilities ensure top-notch audio quality, reducing the need for complex post-processing.
