The COVID 19 wreaked havoc to our daily lives and not sparing the photo communities either. During the month-long movement control order, here is a list of all-things-photography to do by the brands and photo clubs.
We have scouted the social media of local camera brands and distributors, as well as some photo communities to bring you all-things-photography you can do during the MCO (Movement Control Order), from photo competitions to win some prizes while you stay at home shooting your house stuff, online live photo sharing and some cool deals to shop online – up to 14th April 2020. We will update this content from time to time if we find more interesting activities.
Photo Competitions
1. Canon’s 10 Days Homeshoot challenge

Duration: Now until 31 March 2020
Prize : RM50 cash daily
This is an Instagram based mini photo competition. All you need to do is check the daily theme from Canon Malaysia’s Instagram account. The submission is easy, First, you got to follow Canon Malaysia’s IG, then shoot the photos based on the related daily theme, upload to your own Instagram Story and tag @CanonMalaysia with hastag #CanonHomeShoot so that they can find your submission. Oh yeah, please remember to make your profile public. The daily theme are:-

2. Stay At Home with Sony

This is another Instagram-based photo competition by Sony Malaysia. It is all about food! According to Sony, “Food is the ingredient that binds us together and Cooking Together deepens the relationship with our loved ones…” You should be taking photos or short video clips of your cooking tutorial, upload them to your own Instagram Feed or Story and make your profile public, next, follow @SonyMalaysia Instagram and tag them in your post with these hastags – #StayAtHomeWithSony #SonyHomeCook

3. Fujifilm’s #MyFujiLifeAtHOME

Duration: Now until 14 April 2020
Prize : Your winning photo to be printed by Fujifilm Malaysia and placed within a Fujifilm Official Photo Frame. This will be accompanied by an Official Certificate of Award by Fujifilm Malaysia.
You should be shooting your life at home (during MCO) – Anything! From drinking coffee, you annoying your pets, siblings, and the list goes on. Shoot and upload to your own Facebook or Instagram, and hashtag #myfujilifeathome to your post and tag @fujifilmmy and remember to make your Facebook post public and your Instagram profile public so they can see your entry. Live Streaming Learning Sessions
1. Sony Alpha Online Workshop

Sony Malaysia has canceled a string of physical workshops planned earlier and Mr Covid changed everything! Fret not, the quick-thinking Marcom team at Sony Malaysia have made use of the social media live streaming function to bring the workshops to you at the comfort of your home under MCO. 2. Photojam Channel

This is a fairly new Facebook page – PhotoJam Channel created by Persatuan Fotografi Selangor & Kuala Lumpur (PFSKL), emceed and hosted by Chong Wei Tatt and Adam. This page has been fairly active recently during the MCO period, so what Wei Tatt and Adam did was hosting a photo-talk cum photo-sharing session “Live” with various professionals and key opinion leaders in the imaging industry. Various topics of interest were covered by guests such as John Ishii, Grey Chow, Rozella Mahjhrin, Khairull Hafiz, Lee Yap Thai, and Annice Lyn, just to name a few of them. 3. Aputure Asia User Group

Another Facebook group, by Aputure Asia User has been conducting Live talk shows and demos. This is group is everything about lighting and the use of Aputure lights in general. They will be covering on a range of lighting topics and how they apply to you as a content creator, video shooter or a director of photography on set.
